What's this all about?

My Pitch, One so good Stan S. Stanman would be proud...

Who am I? Just a humble sailor who learned his lesson, Or so I thought...
Almost 10 years ago I bought a 30' Sailboat and began my meticulous plan to conquer the seven seas. Unfortunately, on my maiden voyage, I soon learned I didn't know a damn thing about boats and I crashed my beloved vessel. It took me several years to get over it and take to the water again, That is when I found this well-loved, well-sailed boat.

I snatched her up and sailed her brains out. I learned an absolute ton from her and while I can say I'm still no master sailor, I've learned enough to know I've outgrown her. Hence this site and why I'm writing.

She's a 1975 Pearson 26 with no name.  Though I have affectionately named her in my mind- I've refused to put that name on her. I had already crashed one boat and I didn't need to invite any more bad luck.  (link to renaming ceremony). If your up for the challenge.

So here we are at the close of 2024 standing on a bittersweet dockyard. I love this boat with all my heart, she has been my ticket to rediscovering myself. I went from an arrogant greenhorn, to a slightly less arrogant Sailor. Now all that remains is to find her a new owner. One that will love her as much as I have and continue to enjoy her.

When I bought her, I didn't know anything about her. The owner that was selling was leaving town in a hurry and the previous owner before her was crazy busy. The Harbor Master took one look at me and said. "I don't know much about her- but I know she has never missed a season." With this in play, I took a chance! I bought her and found her to be a proud vessel with much to teach me.  I also learned that no matter how many seasons she never missed, she was coming with her own baggage too.  Albeit mostly minor.

I'm sad to say I didn't get to fix everything on her I wanted in our time together, every tweak is not done. I am proud to say, the things I've done have been a great experience, and for those things done, have left both her and I in far better shape then we found each other in.

I can tell you this, She is 49 years old and still very sound. If you're looking for a boat that can splash and get you wet from day 1. you've found her.
Are you new to sailing? This is the boat for you. Her rigging is so simple. It was rerun with the single-hander in mind. Are you an old salt that has found your way back to the water after a long hiatus? She is the Boat for you, She has enough sail features for the advanced sailor to trim those sails precisely to a performance sailing machine.
Will you win the Louie Vuitton Cup? Likely not, but she is one hell of a fast vessel. Boasting a Hull speed of 6.5 Knots. I've achieved 4.5 Knots on the head sail alone, and with both the head and the main up easily hit that 6.5 mark in lighter winds. She's spry and very nimble drawing only 4.0 feet making her ideal in shallow waters.  So what are you waiting for? Come on down, fall in love, and sail away.
